4U Sports has been impacted by a sophisticated “phishing” campaign which has jammed both our voice mail and text messaging. If you have tried to reach 4U Sports and not received a response please contact us by email at Rob@4ufh.com.
The issue 4U is dealing with is an overseas entity is using a sophisticated internet based program to make random robo calls. When the call is made, instead of displaying the information of the actual caller, the caller ID system is “spoofed” and the 4U Sports main number appears on the caller ID system. If the person answers the phone, the call is connected to a live person that either tries to sell them a credit card or get the person to purchase an airline ticket. Once they have all the personal data needed to complete the credit card application or purchase the ticket, the caller has all the information needed to commit identity theft and to drain their bank account. The robo call uses information available on the 4U website to make it sound like Rob from 4U Sports is the caller. (However, they do mispronounce our last name and insist we are in the ice hockey equipment business which we are not.) If the call rolls to voice mail, a message is left. Of course 4U Sports is blamed for the fraud or the unsolicited call. 4U Sports is not now nor has it ever been associated with the marketing of credit cards, airline tickets or products other than field hockey and lacrosse equipment and apparel. There has been no breach of our database and no customer information has been compromised. The only time the caller gets any personal information is when it is given up voluntarily by the person answering the call.
IF you have received such a robo call either from this or a similar event, please report it to the FCC immediately. If you have responded to one of these calls, please also call your bank and credit card companies and report the incident to your local police and the FBI in addition to the FCC.
Sadly, as the call comes via the internet neither the carriers nor 4U Sports is able to stop the calls from happening. We are getting up to 40 phone calls and 70 text messages A MINUTE from people upset that “we” are calling them. We know this call and text messaging load has resulted in our missing communication from clients trying to reach us. We have changed our website and will be changing our contact phone numbers, but as noted, the best way to reach us for now is by email at email@example.com Our new contact information will be provided in a future email.
4U Sports and USFHA thanks you for your understanding and support as this matter is successfully dealt with.
