USA Women's National Team Goalkeeper Lauren Blazing Review of the Straight As:
Over the past five years, I've played with a number of sticks. I used a Grays GX5000, an STX indoor stick, and a Harrow Ninja before switching to the Straight As this year. I absolutely love this stick. I immediately noticed a difference in my tackling when I switched from the Ninja to the Straight As. It's a little heavier than the other sticks I've used, which means it's great for getting a good rebound on stick tackles, intercepts, when I'm sweeping the ball on the ground, or on a fast paced shot. It's also pretty long, which is an added bonus for any ground skills.
The fact that the ball rebounds off with such a pop makes the stick feel light even though it's not as skinny as the sticks I used to use. It feels really natural in my hand for aerial saves, even though my previous stick had the traditional gk head and this one is shaped like a field player's stick.
I think if you are planning to play at a pretty high level, this is a great stick to use. Younger gks might want a smaller or lighter stick to start out with, since learning to make aerial saves with the longer, heavier stick might be tough for people with little hands.
Happy Hockey!
